Now that you’ve made the wise decision to list your idle equipment on DOZR, there are a few things you can do to increase your chances that it gets rented more quickly.
Sometimes listing the equipment is the only thing you need to do, but if you just “set it and forget it,” other equipment might get chosen before yours. The sooner someone rents it, the sooner those checks will come, and you need to make sure your gear stands out compared to the others.
Price is usually the first and most important piece of criteria, but when there are multiple listings in the target price range, it’s the other amenities that take on greater importance. Such as…
Not all users expect a spotless backhoe, but others consider cleanliness very important. And they all want to know that the machinery is going to be reliable. If it’s caked in mud from the last job, a potential renter might worry the owner didn’t care for it well or do proper maintenance.
Wash your equipment and take good pictures of various parts – treads, buckets, dashboards, seats, etc. The more you can do to show a well-loved machine, the better.
Provide a history of inspection and maintenance reports that show how well you’ve maintained your equipment. Again, the more detailed, the better. If you were the end user, you’d want to know that you were getting a reliable piece of machinery. Plus, if you show you’ve taken good care of your equipment, the user will be more likely to take good care of it too.
Besides the main machine, make sure you promote any additional features or amenities. Does the cab have air conditioning? Does it come with a fire extinguisher? Is the upholstery intact? Are there additional attachments such as grapples, spades, sweepers or alternative shovels that would help the user accomplish more work while they have the equipment? Make sure you list them – with photos!
When you list on DOZR, we help promote your listing on our social media channels, but it certainly helps when you do your own promotion too. Share the DOZR posts with your own audiences and tell your followers about your machinery and link to the listing. Tag DOZR on Facebook and use the hashtag #DOZR on Twitter and Instagram.
When you’re selling or renting something, one of the best rules is to put yourself in the customer’s shoes. If you can provide information or imagery that you would want to have to make your own rental or purchase decision, by all means provide it. Then go out and promote what you’ve listed. You’ll have more success than if you just “set it and forget it.”
