Blackberry, Microsoft alum brings big company experience to fast-growing startup
KITCHENER, Ontario––October 23, 2017––DOZR, an online heavy equipment marketplace, has hired technology and sales veteran Dave Chalmers as Senior Vice President leading the company’s revenue growth and corporate development strategy as the startup expands and continues to see increasing demand.
In the last 15 years, Chalmers has held high-rank positions at BlackBerry, Microsoft and Validas. More recently he helped mentor startups at the Velocity Garage and Communitech. He serves as an advisory board member at several companies including Borealis Wind, Preston4, Labforge, Plum.io and Brizi. Chalmers was excited about the opportunity to work at a startup again and chose DOZR over opportunities at larger companies.
“The appeal of DOZR is that I get to take everything thing I’ve learned in previous roles with big companies, startups, accelerators and other organizations and apply that knowledge at a young company,” Chalmers said. “DOZR is just getting started, and there is no ceiling to where this company can go. I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”
Hiring Chalmers comes at a period of explosive growth for DOZR. In the last few months, DOZR has expanded down the U.S. East Coast to Florida with more markets planned to be added soon. The value of merchandise rented on DOZR in the first half of 2017 was triple the value in the same period last year.
Chalmers will oversee additions to the sales team while DOZR also plans to fill new marketing and engineering positions through the rest of the year.
“DOZR is making it easy for equipment owners to recognize new revenue from their underutilized machinery, and features like the DOZR rent guarantee and our embedded insurance protection set us apart from other rental companies,” said DOZR co-founder and CEO Kevin Forestell. “Dave is a great addition for us as we continue to grow. He really understands the business and our potential to grow exponentially.”
DOZR is an online heavy equipment marketplace revolutionizing the way the construction industry rents, buys and sells equipment. For contractors seeking equipment, renting the right machines for less means more profit per job. For contractors who own equipment, idle machines not only fail to generate revenue, they cost owners money, too. Founded by experienced construction veterans, DOZR connects owners of high quality equipment with trusted buyers and renters in our network. www.dozr.com
