We invited Colclough to the DOZR headquarters to chat about his passion for heavy equipment and experience working in the field. In Part 1 of this two-part interview we chatted with Scott about establishing his brand and being a key player in the world of construction and social media. Read Part 2 of the series below.

What got you into the construction industry?

My first experience in the industry was back when I was a teenager and I worked on a tree farm. One day I got a chance to operate a Bobcat and fell in love. I spent a few years operating the Bobcat and eventually got the chance to operate a bulldozer. I operated the bulldozer for 10 hours and immediately started applying to operator positions. I lied when I applied for the job and said that I had 3 years of experience when I actually only had 10 hours. I ended up getting the job. Here I am 19 years later with Pushysix!

Tell us what you do on a daily basis.

I am always working on the Pushysix brand and I manage a jobsite which means that my days are never the same. Running a jobsite includes planning for projects, managing, hiring and training employees, operating machines and any other projects that may come up. I get the most satisfaction when I operate the machines. I see operating machines as an extension of my body, like I am superhuman. Dozers and excavators are the two machines that I can run very well. I like the 1200 or 1250 excavators and a smaller dozer like a D6 or D11.

What has been the coolest place you have visited or event you have been a part of?

There are many cool places I have been to. Con Expo in Las Vegas back in 2017 was a lot of fun. People run into me at events and they tell me that they have started their career as an operator or engineer because of me–it is an awesome feeling.

How did you learn about DOZR? Why do you like the DOZR brand and concept?

I love the DOZR concept and the idea of contractors within the industry helping each other. DOZR will help a contractor that may be in a tough spot, instead of selling their equipment to keep their business afloat they can make money from their idle equipment with DOZR.

Anything else we should know about you or that you’d like to share?

For all the future students, the next generation,  if you are passionate about something go get it. You need to figure out what you want and the steps to get there. Put yourself out there, work for free and get the experience.
